Trilogy: Present & Future, a Note from Nat Komes

February 3, 2021

This coming weekend would have been the 34th annual Trilogy Release Party—which is the highlight of my year. I’m going to miss the festivities…my favorite food pairings, live music, dancing, the wine of course, but mostly I will miss seeing all of our faithful Trilogy Release Party guests. I extend my deepest apologies to the Trilogy Fez gang. Please know that I, along with my mom and dad, Anne and the rest of our team will raise a glass to you, toasting the friendships we’ve made over the years.

I invite you to look back at past parties—enjoy this video compilation of some of our favorite moments.

A Look Ahead

Although we cannot host the big party this year, we will still be releasing the 2018 Trilogy on February 6 and you can be the first to taste the new vintage. We also look ahead to continuing the legacy of Trilogy, the reviews for the 2018 vintage are already rolling in.

93 points, Jeb Dunnuck
“…a seamless, elegant texture that just glides across the palate. Giving up lots of red and black currants, flowery incense, medium to full-bodied richness, no hard edges, and a juicy, seamless, impossible to resist personality, it’s ideal for drinking over the coming 10-12 years.”

92 points, James Suckling
“Rich aromas of blackcurrant jam, cloves, dried herbs and orange peel on the nose. It’s medium-to full-bodied with round, sleek tannins. Spiced and juicy with lifting freshness on the finish.”

Save the Date: February 5, 2022

Mark your calendar now for the 2019 Trilogy Release Party. We look forward to delighting you with all new experiences next year. Stay tuned!

Flora Springs Original Art Pop-up Shop

June 1, 2018

If you’ve attended one of our many events, be it a Wine Club gathering or our annual Trilogy Release Party, chances are you’ve had the opportunity to see some amazingly talented artists create large-scale artwork, right before your eyes. Now is your chance to acquire these one-of-a-kind pieces.

Plump Promise

Description: Depicting the promise of the coming harvest when the fruit is at its most juicy, Brett Crawford captures the grapes perfectly, and one can imagine how tasty they must be.

Specification: 1 Painted Canvas Panel, 8’ L x .25” W x 8’ H

Artist: Large-scale painter, metal sculptor, print maker, illustrator and street artist are a few of the titles California native Brett Crawford holds. His work can be found in galleries and on walls all over Los Angeles. His preferred medium for large works is spray paint, but he is versatile and not limited to one material.

 Aphrodite’s Blessing

Description: Aphrodite’s blessing serves to recognize the beauty and pleasure in life. This artwork is interesting as subliminal symbols are inlaid within the painting making it powerful as much as it is beautiful.

Flower Power
Description: “Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair…,” reminiscent of the 1967 song and the San Francisco Summer of Love. You can almost hear the song when admiring this chalk art piece by Sara Reddish.

Specification: 1 Painted Wood Panel with Chalk Art, 8’ L x 4” W x 8’ H

Artist: Founder of Arrow Art Studio in Napa Valley, Sarah Reddish specializes in calligraphy and letter work with designs that are cleanly styled with an elegant edge. She often works in less traditional materials like chalkboards, plexiglass, mirrors, butcher paper, and leather.

Butterfly Kisses
Description: Butterfly Kisses is a stunning artwork that is seductive in its expression. We love how her shoulders are draped in grape clusters, almost as if she is born of the vine.

Specification: 1 Painted Canvas, 8’ L x .25” W x 8’ H

Artist: Muralist Amandalynn is inspired by the female form and spirit, and commonly depicts strong, seductive women and illustrates their strength through line work and decorative patterning.

The Beauty of Trilogy

Description: There is an amazing amount of movement in The Beauty of Trilogy. Each woman represents one of the original three varietals used in Flora Springs first vintage of Trilogy – Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc.

Specification: 2 Wood Panels – 4’ L x 4” W x 8” H Each, Finished Size 8’ L x 4” W x 8’ H

Artist: Muralist Amandalynn is inspired by the female form and spirit, and commonly depicts strong, seductive women and illustrates their strength through line work and decorative patterning.

Peonies Prelude – SOLD!

Description: Beautiful and sensuous, Peonies Prelude is rich in color and captures a feminine energy that’s unique but consistent in many of Amandalynn’s paintings.

Specification: 1 Painted Canvas, 8’ L x .25” W x 8’ H

Artist: Muralist Amandalynn is inspired by the female form and spirit, and commonly depicts strong, seductive women and illustrates their strength through line work and decorative patterning.

Please note: The artwork is quite large. We recommend you make note of the specifications. Also, shipping is not included, however, we are happy to offer a recommendation on a shipping company if needed, or the art can be available for pick up at the winery.

Wine Country Casual Defined: What to Wear to the Trilogy Release Party

January 25, 2018

Anne Komes of Flora Springs Family defines Wine Country Casual. After all of the excitement around Wine Country the film we thought we would ask our in house fashion expert some advice to plan outfits for Napa Valley visits.

It’s no secret that the Flora Spring’s Annual Trilogy Release Party is considered one of the most anticipated Napa Valley wine festivals of the year. Happening each year on the first weekend of February, our guests can expect to partake in first-class entertainment, high-end food and excellent wines all while basking in the beautiful vistas from our family’s Napa Valley Estate.

February weather, however, can be spotty at best, and that is why we have decided to share our wine country fashion recommendations to help you to prepare for the day’s fête.

What to wear in Napa? While most people know what the typical attire expectations are for Cocktail, Black Tie and Business Casual dress codes, sometimes we hear more confusion around what we commonly ask for in Napa Valley: Wine Country Casual.

We recently met with the stylish Anne Komes for her thoughts on what Wine Country Casual means to her and what to wear to a winery—particularly the Trilogy party.

Living in Napa Valley, what is your personal definition of Wine Country Casual?
“To me, Wine Country Casual is anything appropriate for a vineyard tour or outdoor dining. It’s easy to dress up Wine Country Casual with a cute boot or accessories like a pretty scarf or hat.”

What is your favorite accessory to bring to the Trilogy party?
“For the Trilogy party, I like to wear comfortable shoes because of the dancing! I prefer boots but I know my husband Nat likes to dance so I wear comfortable shoes and jeans.”

What is one thing you never leave home without?
“My favorite accessory is my husband.”

What should you be prepared for at the Trilogy party?
“I am preparing for a Trilogy party full of fun, great conversation and meeting new friends.”

What is your perfect Trilogy outfit?
“I like to wear a hat because it is good, rain or shine! The party happens in February so comfortable but warm clothes because your body needs to move and you don’t want to be restricted with layers!”

For the men out there, what advice would you give them with regards to Trilogy party attire?
“Men should feel comfortable to wear whatever makes them comfortable. To some, it may be a t-shirt and for others, it could be a suit. The only rules for a party should be proper behavior, otherwise, relax, it’s a party!”

And when visiting home in France?
“In my opinion, the same rules apply to wine country in France as wine country in Napa. Understated elegance.”

Each year we devote one day to celebrating the release of our signature red wine, Trilogy.

The creation of Trilogy goes back to 1984 when our family set out to make the best wine possible by selecting the highest quality wine lots culled from our estate vineyards. By blending traditional Bordeaux varietals — Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc — we created one of the original Meritage wines. Over the years we’ve added other Bordeaux varietals to this Cabernet-based blend, always seeking to create the very finest wine from each individual vintage.

2014 Trilogy Release Party – One for the Record Books!

February 10, 2017

A little rain did nothing to dampen the spirits of the scores of revelers who came out last Saturday to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Trilogy. And how could it? From the Flora Springs wines that filled guests’ glasses to the food stations offering delicacies from Napa Valley’s finest restaurants to the ska sounds of our favorite party band, The English Beat, there was more than enough entertainment to keep guests from worrying about a few drops of the wet stuff.

Guests from all over came to our 15th annual Trilogy Release Party. For many, this was not their first time to a Trilogy party. “I’ve been coming to this ever since it started,” said one guest, who traveled more than three hours with five of his closest friends to spend the day at Flora Springs Estate.

It was all hands on deck for Flora Springs’ proprietors and extended family. Event hosts John and Nat Komes kept guests entertained and laughing, with John regaling fans with stories and jokes and Nat setting the pace on the dance floor. At Flora’s house, the winemaking team Paul and Enrico led VIP tastings of Flora Springs’ about-to-be-released 2014 Single Vineyard Cabernets.

In addition to wine, food and music, there were photo ops, shopping, T-shirt styling (with Trilogy Tees, of course!) and even a nail art booth. It was there that we ran into a mother and daughter who had driven up from the Bay Area to attend the party. “My daughter’s boyfriend gave her these tickets for Christmas. It’s all about experiences and making memories!” We couldn’t agree more.

In this post we mentioned just a few of the people who hosted and made the 15th Annual Trilogy Release Party a success, but there were many more family members, Flora Springs employees, and event planning partners who deserve to be recognized. Thanks to everyone for your help and hard work!
