2021 Trilogy & 2021 beckstoffer missouri hopper vineyard cabernet sauvignon

When we created our inaugural Trilogy in 1984, there were headwinds. Combining varietals to make a “red wine blend” was hardly heard of in California. Wines were generally labeled as a singular varietal so that customers would know what to expect. But we believed Trilogy would prove that blends could be in the same league as the best Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, and in time, our customers, the critics and our
fellow winemakers came to believe it too. By the 1990s, Trilogy had taken its rightful place as an icon among Napa Valley wines.

Our 2021 Trilogy advances this nearly 40 year legacy. Creating this wine, an evolution in all respects, was a labor of love and a test of my patience- I’ve waited 4 years to share it with you. Our promise with Trilogy has always been to make the absolute finest wine of the vintage. With the gratifying early reviews of our 2021 vintage, we are more certain than ever that this labor of love has been worth it.

Additionally, we’re pleased to include the debut release of 2021 Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon in this Preferred Palate Shipment. For this wine we partnered with our long-time friend, neighbor and grape grower Andy Beckstoffer, sourcing Cabernet Sauvignon from his historic Missouri Hopper Vineyard located just north of the town of Yountville. Beckstoffer’s unwavering commitment to excellence and innovation sets a standard for Napa Valley and the wine industry at large. Working with Andy’s fruit and leveraging our nearly five decades of winemaking to craft this wine was a
remarkable experience, and resulted in a Cabernet that has already received numerous accolades.

BUDBREAK BEGINS

As Spring emerges across the Valley after the dormancy of Winter, we welcome the signs of greenery and growth that come with budbreak. We are delighted to present your May Wine Club shipment and the new release 2021 Merlot. Merlot is a varietal we’re recognized for, one you can drink immediately while you wait for your Cabernet to age; and one we’ve been known to enjoy with a light lunch due to its approachable, fruit forward profile.

I’ve mentioned we’re working smaller at Flora Springs, and it may be more difficult to find our Merlot at your favorite wine shop or restaurant in the future. But we remain firmly committed to producing this varietal, even in lesser qualities, and as a Great Taste Wine Club Member you will always have access to this special wine.

Many exciting things are happening this month at our St. Helena Tasting Room as we prepare for the summer season, kicking off on Saturday, May 4th with our 2021 Trilogy Release Event. We then continue the celebrations throughout the month of May with library flights of Trilogy.

Additionally, we have launched our 2023 white wines. The 2023 Sauvignon Blanc, 2023 Rosé, and the 2023 Vermentino, which after a sell-out year last year, we are delighted to produce these wines once again.
