2022 Trilogy
Flora Springs Trilogy is a Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend, lovingly crafted by Flora Springs for four decades. With each vintage of this iconic Napa Valley wine, we keep three promises to our customers: longevity in sustainable farming, innovation in winemaking and an enduring commitment to making the finest possible wine. Our 2022 Trilogy, the 39th bottling of this wine, continues a renewal of our craft in both vineyard practices and winemaking. The three leaves that make up the Trilogy logo represent the three Bordeaux varietals that combine beautifully to form our Flagship blend. Cabernet, Malbec and Petit Verdot. We evolved the design in 2023 to a single golden color, to portray the three varietals coming together as one.
Like a sip of winter sunshine, the rosy glow of Trilogy emanates warmth and elegance with every sip. Make sure to decant for a few hours before enjoying.
The 2022 Trilogy stands as a testament to our brand's legacy, encapsulating the very essence of our most iconic wine. This dark, concentrated masterpiece is brimming with the warm, brambly notes of blue and black fruits, and subtly enriched by the aromatics of mint, eucalyptus, and cola berry. The 2022 Trilogy exudes sleekness and focus, with a concentrated profile and refined tannins that elevate its elegant finish, truly reflecting the pinnacle of our winemaking artistry.
Komes Vineyard, Rutherford AVA, Napa Valley
Our 2022 Trilogy embodies the pinnacle of our brand's dedication to sustainable winemaking and the stewardship of Napa Valley vineyards. This exceptional wine is crafted from sustainably-farmed Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, carefully sourced from two select blocks in the Komes vineyard, nestled on the gently-sloping western hills of the Mayacamas Mountain range in the Rutherford AVA.
The vineyard is framed by a forest of valley oaks, live oaks, and coastal redwoods. Recent enhancements to this historic site include a meticulous redesign of its blocks to respect soil variations, comprehensive soil renewal and amendments, tailored irrigation strategies, and gentle pruning techniques. These efforts reflect our unwavering commitment to both the art of winemaking and the responsible stewardship of our treasured Napa Valley terroir.

Our 2022 Trilogy was fermented in stainless steel and aged in small French (90%) and American (10%) oak barrels for 18 months. As the wine matured, we conducted blending trials once a month amid much discussion to arrive at the ideal varietal and vineyard component percentages. Blending wine is an intricate art that combines scientific precision with creative flair, aiming to craft a wine that embodies balance, complexity, and depth. At the heart of this practice lies our Trilogy blend, a shining example of mastery in the field. This iconic blend seamlessly unites select varietals, each contributing its unique character—Cabernet Sauvignon offers structure and intensity, Malbec brings lush fruitiness, and Petit Verdot adds a touch of elegance and color. The winemaker's skill lies in harmonizing these elements, ensuring that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. The Trilogy blend, with its rich history and celebrated legacy, showcases the true essence of the winemaking craft and the extraordinary potential of Napa Valley's terroir.
The 2022 vintage will be remembered for a growing season that was near ideal, with abundant early-season rains and excellent spring and summer weather, culminating in what many vintners called "the tale of two harvests." The white wine harvest kicked off in early August, followed quickly by red wine varietals. But triple-digit heat over five days in early September - followed by a spate of rain - brought harvest to a sudden halt. After the rain, grapes were left to hang through October, with mild weather that allowed winemakers to await perfect ripeness. Although the harvest was challenging, winemakers describe 2022 wines as having perfect acidity and freshness with remarkable flavors and textures. Red wines show excellent structure with deep red colors, luxurious tannins and exquisite fruit-forward aromatics.
Jonathan Cristaldi, Decanter Magazine"This is consistently a knock-out wine, showcasing exceptional balance, poise, and sheer deliciousness. The 2022 vintage delivers much the same, leading with ripe, fruit-forward blue-fruit aromatics and lovely sweet cedarwood spices...."
"The 2022 Trilogy offers up scents of ripe cherries and dusty loam, plus some slightly herbal notes reminiscent of dried sage, maybe even a touch of bell pepper. In the mouth, the wine is medium to full-bodied, silky but firm, not showing the season's heat at all, ending in a long, dusty finish."
"Baked cherries, ripe blackberries, dried herbs and spices on the nose. Firm and lightly chewy in the mouth with a grainy texture to the tannins. Full-bodied and intense with a dark-fruited finish."
