New to Wine?

Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the world’s most popular red wine grapes, known for producing bold, full-bodied wines with rich flavor and structure. It typically offers notes of dark fruit like blackcurrant, blackberry, and plum, often complemented by hints of vanilla, cedar, or spice from oak aging. What sets Cabernet apart is its firm tannins—the naturally occurring compounds that give the wine its structure and ability to age gracefully over time. Whether you're sipping it on its own or pairing it with food, Cabernet Sauvignon is a classic choice for those who enjoy a wine with depth, intensity, and a lasting finish.

Tasting Notes

This Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon opens with expressive notes of blackcurrant, wild berries, and a hint of licorice, unfolding into layers of dark fruit that dominate the palate. A subtle lift of white pepper leads into savory herbs—fennel, sage, and a whisper of dried earth; adding nuance and intrigue. The tannins are firm yet finely textured, with a crushed-stone quality that provides structure and elegance. As the wine evolves, flavors of bitter cooking chocolate and chocolate-covered dark cherries emerge, offering depth and richness. The finish is long and mouthwatering, driven by a balance of juiciness and mineral tension that invites another sip.

Winemaking

Our Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from a small block of the Komes vineyard in Rutherford. Although the Rutherford AVA encompasses just six square miles, it has a worldwide reputation as one of Napa Valley’s finest growing regions. The appellation has that rare and serendipitous combination of climate, soils and topography ideal for growing high-quality wine grapes, particularly Cabernet.

Vintage

In 2023, Napa Valley experienced one of the longest growing seasons in a decade or more. Winter and spring rains led to full reservoirs and healthy, saturated soils; ideal conditions as grape growers headed into the peak growing months. With consistent, mild weather throughout the season, above-average crop yields, and extended hang time, 2023 was an exceptional, high-quality, and memorable vintage.
