2023 All Hallow’s Eve Cabernet Franc

For over a decade, Flora Springs has been creating one-of-a-kind Halloween-themed bottles for our Wine Club Members and All Hallows’ Eve fans everywhere. This year, we wanted to continue this tradition.

This Halloween, we honor the misunderstood power of Medusa with a striking Cabernet Franc that channels her fierce, protective spirit. Clad in a flowing green dress and armed with a bow and arrow, our Medusa is no monster—she is a guardian of the vineyard, a divine force standing between nature’s bounty and those who seek to exploit it. Like the wine itself, she is bold, complex, and layered with meaning. Each sip tells a story of transformation and strength, inviting you to see beyond the myth and into the truth of a goddess who defends what she loves.

The Design

This Halloween, we reclaim the legend of Medusa—not as a monster, but as a misunderstood goddess of fierce protection and wild beauty. With serpentine grace and piercing power, she stands watch over our vineyards, bow in hand, ready to defend the harvest from those who would take more than they honor. Clad in a flowing green gown, crowned with ancient horns, and lit by the glow of the full moon, our Medusa embodies transformation, strength, and balance between nature and the unknown. Just as the vines sleep and the earth prepares for winter, she reminds us that there is magic in stillness, wisdom in solitude, and strength in the shadows. This year’s Halloween release—a hauntingly elegant Cabernet Franc from Rutherford—is a tribute to her legend. Bold, herbaceous, and structured with refined tannins, it reflects the duality of Medusa herself: both fearsome and beautiful, wild and wise. Each sip tells a story of guardianship and mystery, inviting you to look deeper, past the myth, and into the truth of the goddess who protects what matters most.

Tasting Notes

In the glass, this Cabernet Franc presents a deep garnet hue with violet undertones, hinting at the intensity and elegance within. The nose opens with a burst of black cherry, red currant, and wild raspberry, followed by more nuanced aromas of dried sage, bay leaf, and cracked pepper, true to its varietal character. Subtle floral notes—violet and lavender—weave through hints of cedar, graphite, and cocoa powder from refined oak aging. On the palate, the wine is vibrant yet structured, showcasing the hallmark balance of Rutherford fruit. Juicy dark berries and pomegranate take the lead, layered with savory elements of roasted herbs, black tea, and dusty earth. The tannins are fine-grained and chalky, offering firm support without overshadowing the wine’s freshness and elegance. A refined acidity lifts the mid-palate, carrying the wine toward a long, mouthwatering finish with lingering notes of bitter chocolate, crushed stone, and a hint of dried tobacco. This is a thoughtfully crafted Cabernet Franc—bold yet graceful, expressive yet restrained—perfect for drinking now or cellaring over the next 5–7 years as its complexity deepens.

Rutherford Wines

Grown in the heart of Rutherford, Napa Valley, this limited-production wine showcases the power and finesse that come from one of the region’s most revered appellations. The gravelly, well-drained soils of Rutherford bring structure and purity, while the valley’s warm days and cool nights allow for optimal ripening of this late-harvest varietal. The result is a bold, expressive wine with unmistakable presence.

Vintage

In 2023, Napa Valley experienced one of the longest growing seasons in a decade or more. Winter and spring rains led to full reservoirs and healthy, saturated soils; ideal conditions as grape growers headed into the peak growing months. With consistent, mild weather throughout the season, above-average crop yields, and extended hang time, 2023 was an exceptional, high-quality, and memorable vintage.
