As Autumn settles over Napa Valley on this All Hallows' Eve, the harvest moon rises above the vineyards, and a different rhythm awakens. Beneath its silver glow, bats emerge from the shadows, sweeping silently through the night sky. Long regarded as the guardians of the vineyard, they protect the vines from insects and help preserve the balance of the land, working unseen beneath Flora's watchful gaze.
THE HARVEST MOON

Inspired by 19th-century botanical engravings and romantic Gothic illustration, our All Hallows' Eve release this Halloween depicts a luminous ivory moon that dominates the horizon. Bats sweep gracefully across the sky, illuminated by moonlight, and ancient gnarled vines frame the scene. Below, Napa Valley vineyards disappear into the mist as the Harvest Moon shines on.
WINEMAKER NOTES
Our 2021 Red Blend consists primarily of Cabernet Sauvignon and combines fruit from outstanding, sustainably-farmed vineyards in Napa Valley; the Komes Vineyard in Rutherford and the Crossroads vineyard in Oakville. Flavors of blackberry jam, dark plum and red boysenberry are at the core of this plush red and generous wine, accompanied by notes of toasted spice, vanilla and dark chocolate. The wonderful dark fruit flavors are layered with notes of dark espresso bean and menthol to the palate, along with attractive hints of cedar and spice.
VINTAGE
The 2021 vintage in Napa Valley will be remembered for a smooth, uneventful growing season and harvest that produced low yields of intensely flavored, small-sized grape clusters. The season started off with very little rain and continued as a dry, sunny summer led to a relatively cool fall with weeks of lovely weather. 2021 represented the second drought year in a row, and while concerning in the long term, the dry weather resulted in a more natural crop load on the vines, requiring less pruning and dropping of fruit. The resulting grapes were packed with flavor leading to powerful, concentrated wines.
