For several years we've worked diligently to develop this exquisite wine—crafted from the finest fruit on the Flora Springs Estate—as a token of remembrance for Flora Komes, our late matriarch and founder who celebrated her 100th birthday in November of 2011.
The 2012 Flora's Legacy Chardonnay comes from a single barrel of Chardonnay, personally selected by the Garvey and Komes families. Delicate aromas of orange blossom, brioche, and hazelnut lead into delectable flavors of Asian pear, juicy apple, and caramel, accented by a voluptuous mouth feel. The wine's finish evokes that of a golden French calvados. Steak béarnaise is a perfect pairing as its rich buttery sauce enhances the lush flavors of this Legacy Chardonnay.

Our Legacy Chardonnay is sourced from Block A of our revered Crossroads Ranch in Oakville. Located near Conn Creek and the Napa River, this vineyard presents a nearly perfect climate for Chardonnay. Cool morning fog and afternoon breezes form ideal bookends to the long warm days of summer. Fruit here ripens slowly, developing deliciously complex fruit flavors that are characteristic of the vineyard.
May 2014 Buying Guide
"A long-time producer of great Chardonnay, Flora Springs hits a new level with this reserve commemorative bottling. The wine is spectacularly rich in tropical fruits, green apples and limes, with elaborate buttered toast and vanilla flavors from new oak, and a wonderfully creamy, leesy complexity."
1 Star-90 points
"This ambitious, very liberally oaked working shows a good deal of depth and impresses for its range and fruity concentration. It is very full-bodied but is never top heavy or unbalanced, and it comes with a full complement of sweet spice framing its ample, ripe apple fruit. It has the juicy immediacy to be enjoyable in the short term, but it shows a nice sense of structural grip and has room for a few years of improvement."
"The more expensive 2012 Chardonnay Flora’s Legacy is a homage to the late Flora Komes, the family matriarch who passed away in 2012. It ratchets up the aromatic and flavor profiles to reveal abundant notes of honeyed citrus, melons and white peaches intermixed with a delicate hint of oak. This medium to full-bodied, pure, well-crafted white should drink well for 3-4 years."
