In 1984 we set out to make the best wine possible by hand selecting the highest quality lots from our estate vineyards. Using a blend of Bordeaux varietals--Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Malbec--we created Trilogy, one of the original Meritage wines. Over the years, we have found that the Merlot brings a bright red fruit character to the wine while the Cabernet and Malbec deliver rich, black fruit qualities. This year, we've added a splash of Cabernet Franc, another dark fruit varietal, to the mix and we couldn't be happier with the results. Our 2010 Trilogy is a beautifully balanced, opulent wine that leaves you wanting more. The aromatics jump out of the glass, luscious black cherry and sandalwood followed by blueberry and rhubarb. Black cherry is the driving force in the palate married with white pepper and sage and finishing with sweet earth and mushroom tones.

After more than three decades of crafting elegant, complex wines from our Napa Valley estate vineyards, Trilogy remains one of Flora Springs most revered legacies. Blended from three Bordeaux varietals, the wine embodies meticulous, sustainable farming practices along with the evolution of a wine style originated by the Komes and Garvey families and honed to perfection by winemaker Paul Steinauer. The three varietals (occasionally we add a fourth!) merge together to form a beautifully balanced lush wine, with delicate aromatics of light pepper and granite dust and trademark flavors of ripe blackberries, blueberries and cassis. We are proud to say that after thirty-three years of winemaking and twenty-five years of crafting Trilogy, our goal remains the same: to handcraft the finest wine possible from the Flora Springs estate.

"Dark chocolate richness infuses this cabernet's sweet cherry skin flavors. It’s plumped up by oak age, easy and graceful in a contemporary Napa Valley style. For braised short ribs."

"Very dark garnet in color, this wine smells of black cherry and tobacco. In the mouth, deep black cherry and cassis flavors are wrapped in a suede throw of tannins. The fruit turns sweet in the finish, with well integrated new oak lending a hint of vanilla to the dark fruit and cocoa powder." Score: around 9. Read more here.

"The 2010 Trilogy, a blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 4% Malbec and 1% Cabernet Franc, possesses a dark ruby/purple color as well as juicy, kirsch, cassis and blacker fruits, medium to full body, sweet tannin, a seductive, lush texture and an elegant yet authoritative, ripe style. Reminiscent of both Napa Valley and Bordeaux, it should drink well over the next decade or more.
One of the iconic proprietary red wines in Napa Valley has long been Flora Springs' Trilogy."—Robert Parker
