2019 Aphrodite’s Valentines Blend

Inspired by Aphrodite, goddess of love, beauty, and irresistible harmony, the design of Aphrodite’s Blend is an ode to devotion made visible. Our 2019 Napa Valley Holiday Red Blend consists primarily of Cabernet Sauvignon, combining fruit from two outstanding, sustainably-farmed vineyard sources: the Komes Vineyard in Rutherford and our Crossroads Vineyard in Oakville.  This delicious blend offers beautiful aromas of blackberry jam, dark plum and red boysenberry with hints of toasted spice and dark chocolate. In the mouth, lush fruit is layered with notes of brown baking spices, vanilla, and dark espresso bean along with traces of fresh sage and lavender. This is a warm, voluptuous wine, packed with fruit but displaying a good balance of oak, tannin and acid.

The early part of the 2019 growing season was defined by heavy rainfall which replenished reservoirs and gave the soils plenty of moisture. A long, warm summer featured few extreme heat events, and the typically foggy mornings set the stage for vibrant and expressive wines. Harvest was long and relatively mild, helping to preserve freshness and finesse in the fruit with extended hang time teasing out great color, structure and soft tannins. Crop volume was average to a little less than average. In the end, it was another amazing vintage yielding exceptional fruit with bright acidity and ample flavor and texture.
